Iowa Team Two Days Three, Four, Five and Six!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were busy days filled with many different activities for the team at HAFF. Amy enjoyed helping the ladies in the dorm kitchen do dishes after dinner Monday night! Below are the other things the team did! 

Dr Greg taught the young men's Bible Study and the Young Leaders for God class about humility.
The team visited another clinic down the road from HAFF,
benefited from lectures on the church in Haiti and spiritual warfare from Met Telius (center), Education in Haiti, Agriculture in Haiti, the role of women in Haiti and how to make peanut butter!
They also dug a trench from the dorm to Dr Jerry's house to run a cable to get him online. It will also benefit the Wilsons, allowing them to be online from their house! 

The team led devotions,
worked with Dr Jerry in his dental clinic,
built more chalkboards for the schools participating in the Primary School Teacher Training Program,
and led devotions for the Godly Woman classes. 

They helped Mme Telius in HAFF's Medical Clinic with Smith Cherfils (a former BTI student) translating,
and helped at the BTI Soccer Tournament -- where the classes all played each other to see which class had the best soccer team -- the 7th grade almost beat the 12th grade for the championship!
They played with children
and visited the homebound and the grieving in their homes to pray with and encourage them. 

They distributed blackboards to the schools participating in the Primary School Teacher Training Program,
hung a hammock the team brought for the HAFF staff,
baked cakes for the BTI Soccer Team Festival tomorrow,
and taught the Young Leaders for God class about humility. 

Iowa Team Two Day Two

Today was Sunday. The team broke up into 2 parts to go to church. One group went to Glace Bourik (that means Frozen Donkey!) -- about a 45 minute drive north and west of HAFF.
They enjoyed the singing and warmth of the service there.
Dr Greg (blue shirt) preached and Dr Jerry (blue tie) interpreted for him.
Then the team was welcomed to a church member's home for coke and crackers! 

The second group went to Leon south and west of HAFF.
Fr Charles (front right) is the leader of the church.
Randy preached and I interpreted for him.
After church we visited 2 homes, praying for the family at the second home. 

We ended the evening with singing and prayer.

Iowa City Team Two

The second team from Iowa City for the year arrived this afternoon shortly after 3. Here they are after dinner and hearing the story of HAFF. Left to right: Amy, Tonya, Mark, Jonathan, Sam, Randy, Bethany, Amanda, Greg, Travis and Paul. Pray for them tomorrow as they go to minister in 2 area churches -- Randy and Greg will be preaching. And then pray for a good week as they minister in the school and the community. Pray that the Lord would keep them safe and help them to be a light.

Adou

Thank you all who prayed for Adou through his fight with cancer. His battle is over. His race is run. He went home to be with his Saviour this afternoon. Please pray for his family, the church and his community. There will be great grief in Bohoc and LaJeune this evening. Since he just died not long ago, I don't know yet when the funeral will be.

Pray for his family. There are a couple of his brothers who have been blaming my cook (Adou's Aunt) for his illness. These same brothers also prevented the rest of the family getting paliative medical treatment for him and tried to give him other remedies that he was constantly having to refuse. Please pray that their grief will not spill over into revenge for their misguided beliefs and that the rift in the family can be healed to the glory of God. Please pray that even in death, the life of Adou St Amour will glorify the name of Christ.
