Linda and Kylee also had a chance to visit with an old friend, Emerson Pierre.
And Hannah had a chance to ride HAFF's old donkey, Patience.
Yesterday, Wednesday also saw a lot going on. Lisa and Hannah visited with 2 old friends, Ludner St Amour

and Mme Tiza Docteur. 

Kylee, Keri and Hannah all got their hair braided. Linda, Hannah, Kylee, and Keri worked in the clinic with Mme Telius. Dave and Greg painted Phisnor's PET so they could deliver it to him.

Lisa taught 20 women about the 7 Steps to Freedom in Christ.

The women were so blessed, they said they would like to see more of these seminars for women so they would be enabled to better minister to the other women in their area and to better help their husbands in their ministries.

The team is now on their way home. They will be missed and they go with many prayers for their safe travel and for their return to Haiti one day. Please pray with us that the fruit of their labors would be lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God. 

Michigan Team Day 3

Thanks to the January Iowa City team for most of the photos in this and the next post! This morning the Michiagn team is visiting the Pignon market. It is the Haitian version of going to the Super Wal-Mart! It is grocery store, hardware and housewares store and livestock market all rolled into one! There is even a pharmacy and health and beauty section! For many Haitians, this is the social event of the week!!!
The main differance between the Pignon Market and Wal-Mart is that Pignon's is all open air and there are many vendors -- maybe it is more like a flea market or an antiques mall atmosphere! The vendors spread their wares on cloth on the ground or on tables under shades.
And they do their best to arrange their goods attractively. The piles are laid out according to price. When you arrive, you ask how much the tomatoes or okra are per pile. Once you and the vendor agree on the price per pile, then you say how many piles you want. If you are a good client, or give the vendor a particularly good sale, she may decide to "ranje" you -- give you a bit extra! Or you can even ask for a "ranje"! That generally raises a laugh from all the vendors within hearing distance and shows that you are really more Haitian than American!
After market, the team will have lunch in the Snack Bar at the Pignon Hospital. There they will have their choice of spaghetti, hotdog, ham and cheese sandwich and maybe hamburger. None of the above choices are much like the American versions! They all have a Haitian twist and Haitian flavor! The spaghetti is spicy and comes with a hotdog cut up and cheese sprinkled over it. Then you add ketchup! The hotdog is served on a hard Haitain bun with onions and ketchup. The sandwich is on the same hard bun and has a spicy sauce on it. And the hamburger is likewise spiced up and served on the hard bread. But it is all tasty! 

This afternoon the ladies will be going to Riske to work with Barb's Ladies' Bible Study there.
Lisa will be sharing with them about the steps to Liberty in Christ.
In the evening, if there is no rain to ruin the roads, the team will go with Greg to Baroncy to show the Jesus Film in a church there.

Michigan Team Day 2 Afternoon

After lunch the young girls from the team (right) met with Amy Gilbaugh and Barb (left) as Amy met with the Haitian sisters she has been working with. The sisters, Fabnise, Falinnda and Ger-fasline, have been meeting regularly with Amy to study purity. Amy is at HAFF for 2 months as a short term HAFF intern.

Later this afternoon, the 5 women of the team will go with Barb and Amy to visit some families in the area to share Scripture, pray with and encourage them.
Colin and Dave were really busy in the late morning and early afternoon. Barb had met with them at about 10 this morning to ask for a couple of projects to be done for Zandolit. The guys started with raw mahogany, like that on the rack here.
They planed it and cut it and screwed it togather and made a beautiful display rack for Zandolit -- by about 2:30 this afternoon! They make a great team!
After moving the display rack to Zandolit, Colin and Dave started working on repairing the door to Zandolit. It has seen lots of sun and rain and is a bit the worse for the wear. 

Michigan Team Day 2 Morning

After a good night's sleep and Haitian Eggs for breakfast, the team got to work. Dave and Colin worked on making more chalkboards for the Elementary School Teacher Training Program.



Linda and Hannah and Kylee and Keri worked in the clinic with Mme Telius. All three girls want to be nurses, so working with nurse Linda and nurse Mme Telius is good experience for them. All three girls learned this morning to take pulses and blood pressures. 

Vergennes United Methodist Church Team from Ada, Michigan

The Missions Work Study Team arrived at HAFF today about 12:30. They were tired from travelling for 9 hours already that day, but the whole trip went A-OK and they were glad to finally be in Bohoc. We were glad to see them as well! Left to right are Linda, Hannah, Lisa, Keri, Kylee, and Dave.
After lunch and orientation and a rest, the team headed out for a tour of the HAFF campus. Later in the day, they may go visit a family or two in their homes.

A Team for a Day

This is the team from Lighthouse Fellowship in Cape Coral Florida. They are visiting Kristie and Jean Jean Mompremier (former HAFF staff now with their own ministry near Bohoc) for the week and came by to see what HAFF's ministry is all about. June and Wayne Phillips (center and second from the right) have been to HAFF many times and led the team with 3 first time visitors -- Brad, Angie and Vickie.

Angie and Vickie. The team had just spent the morning painting a mural on the new dorm at Mompremiers and were heading back to pray with the pastors that Jean Jean trains.

The Bon Fanm Classes

Here are some things I have been wanting to get on the blog since Adou died, but it didn't seem appropriate then, and then I didn't have time. Some news from February.

The Bon Fanm class (the one that meets Tuesdays) learned how to make baskets, paint chairs and make salads.  

They also finally received their uniform tee-shirts! They not only tried them on and kept them on for the photo, they even changed their blouses and kept the shirts on the rest of the day! Then they wore them home. So now the whole community is talking about the great Bon Fanm tee-shirts!
The Bon Jen Fanm class (our BTI students who gather Wednesday and Thursday afternoons) also learned to make baskets. Fr Sol, a teaching elder at the Maranatha Baptist Church of Bohoc, taught them a Bible Study technique as well.
And they also received their tee-shirts which they wore with pride and pleasure!
